Harbour House sits in a converted 19th-century transit shed on the Floating Harbour, rumoured to have been Brunel's private boathouse. Our flexible approach means that we can host your event, be it a corporate event, private dining or any kind of celebration from weddings to graduations. We're equipped to put on a reunion for a few close friends up to a full venue takeover for up to 200 people.
The Restaurant
Our spacious restaurant is the perfect private dining setting for your party, small or large. Our renowned chefs will prepare the the perfect celebratory feast for you and your group, from a fine dining set menu or just enjoying our à la carte menu. Maximum capacity is 120 guests and is suitable for small or large groups with all dietary requirements catered for.
The Bar
Our bar at Harbour House is the perfect place for a drinks reception with canapés or carrying on the party after you have eaten in our dining area. Our drinks menu will certainly be getting you in the mood for the celebrations. We can cater for live DJs or music for your party or if you wish the bar is available for full private hire.
Exclusive Event Hire
All on one floor, our fully licensed restaurant, bar and outside areas can be transformed into drinking, meeting and dining spaces respectively for 100+ guests. Private meeting spaces can be created for large or small groups with full venue takeovers available.

Harbour House can host up to 200 guests for exclusive use of the whole venue. Our dining room seats 10 to 100 guests, the bar holds 80+ for drinks receptions and the covered waterfront terrace takes 80. You can hire a single function room or combine spaces to suit your event size.
What catering options are available for private parties?
We offer set menus, sharing banquets, canapé receptions and party buffets, all prepared fresh in our kitchen. Our menus champion seafood from Wings of St Mawes and produce from South West suppliers. We cater for all dietary requirements, including vegan and gluten-free guests, and our events team will help you choose the right format.
Can we bring our own entertainment or decorations?
You're welcome to bring live bands, acoustic acts or a DJ as our spaces have plenty of room for dancing. Decorations are welcome too. Our event coordinators can advise on setting up beforehand and clearing down afterwards.
Is there a minimum spend or hire fee for booking private events?
Venue hire costs depend on the date, time, group size, and the space you'd like to book. Most private hire has a minimum spend, which goes towards your food and drink. Send us your event details and our team will put together a tailored proposal.
Can we hire a smaller space for a party?
Smaller groups are just as welcome as large ones. We can reserve a section of the dining room or bar for parties from 10 guests, giving you a private feel without hiring the whole venue. It's a great option for birthday meals, small celebrations and team dinners.
Can we book the whole venue for exclusive use?
You can book Harbour House for exclusive use, giving your guests the restaurant, bar and waterfront terrace all to themselves. Full venue hire suits up to 200 guests and works well for weddings, corporate events and milestone parties. Dates fill up quickly, so we recommend enquiring as early as possible.
Can we hire the waterfront terrace for an event?
You can hire our waterfront terrace for drinks receptions and outdoor celebrations for up to 80 guests. It's covered and heated through the winter, so you can enjoy the harbour setting whatever the weather. You can book the terrace on its own or alongside the bar or restaurant.
Is Harbour House accessible for guests with mobility needs?
Our restaurant, bar and terrace are all on one level, making it easy for guests to move between spaces. Step-free access and accessible toilets are available throughout. If any of your guests have specific requirements, let our events team know and we'll make sure everything is in place.
Are dogs welcome at private events?
Dogs are welcome in our restaurant, bar and terrace. This includes most private events. Just let our events team know when you enquire, so we can make sure the space works for every guest, including the four-legged ones.
